NHL rejects 24% salary rollback
Well, here's the least shocking news of the day. TSN has learned that the NHL will reject the proposed offer from the NHLPA. NHL vice-president Bill Daly had some strong words for the NHLPA in the notice: "We believe the Union's offer was more about trying to unify the players and ensure player solidarity with what they would perceive as a very substantial proposal than it was about making a good faith effort to reach agreement us..." said Daly. "...The Union needed the 'rallying point' that it felt this offer would provide with the players to effectuate this strategy. Under this scenario, the Union will likely (and quickly) break off negotiations."As I said, not surprising in the least. The real news event comes tomorrow when we learn what the league proposes. If it's a $31-mil salary cap proposal, you won't have to worry about watching any NHL games this season.
