Viva Las Penguins
Las Vegas is one of three cities interested in talking to the team after Penguins co-owners Mario Lemieux and Ron Burkle sent a letter to Gov. Ed Rendell, Allegheny County Chief Executive Dan Onorato and Mayor Luke Ravenstahl on Monday declaring an impasse in negotiations and saying they would "aggressively" consider relocation.Call me crazy, but I think that Las Vegas is going to make an excellent pro sports market for whoever decides to jump into that pool first (at least in terms of revenue stream). It's at least moderately interesting that the Penguins' representatives are considering Sin City to the point that they're willing to travel there to meet with officials.
Besides, it's not as if the ridiculous gambling that goes on with professional football has anything to do with where the NFL's teams are situated. The stigma on Las Vegas is unwarranted — although the recent shenanigans that went on during the NBA all-star game are certainly troubling.
Who bets on hockey anyway?
