Separating the SedinsOr: Why Henrik over Daniel?

Henrik Sedin is going to the NHL all-star game. His brother, Daniel, is staying home.

One wonders if the league flipped a coin on this one.

Here's an in-depth statistical comparison of the twins:

Career GP G A PTS +/- PIM SOG SPCT PPG PPA GWG
Daniel 520 139 207 346 60 200 1091 12.7 55 75 27
Henrik 524 79 265 344 82 292 669 11.8 19 114 9

This season

Prjctd GP G A PTS +/- PIM SOG SPCT PPG PPA GWG ATOI
Daniel 82 39 39 78 20 43 234 16.7 18 18 10 18:46
Henrik 82 14 68 82 25 51 129 10.6 4 27 4 18:59

One takes a lot of shots, and scores goals, and the other's a playmaker, just as they've always been. Here's a closer look at their statistics from Behind The Net:

5-on-5
NAME GP TOI/60 RATE Q.COMP PTS/60 GFON/60 GAON/60 GFOFF/60 GAOFF/60
Henrik
42 13.34 1.19 -0.06 2.46 3.00 1.71 1.88 1.78
Daniel
42 13.25 0.89 -0.06 2.16 2.70 1.62 2.01 1.83

5-on-4
NAME GP TOI/60 PTS/60 GFON/60 GFOFF/60
Henrik
42 4.04 4.59 6.71 4.59
Daniel
42 4.08 4.9 6.65 4.64

4-on-5
Less than 30 seconds a game each

I think it was a coin flip.

All kidding aside, these are really strong numbers overall. The only caveat is that players like Ryan Kesler and Alex Burrows are picking up the really difficult minutes, with the Sedins and Markus Naslund getting relatively easy defensive assignments and no penalty killing time.
