Horcoff's season ends
Oilers centre Shawn Horcoff is heading for surgery, and will be lost for the season.
He had been playing with a wonky shoulder for most of the season, and had not been practising since returning from the all-star game in Atlanta.
Players having great seasons on bad teams are often overlooked, and Horcoff was no different this season.
He was on pace for a 30-goal campaign and close to 80 points, both career highs, and was the best Edmonton player more nights than not. He also put up numbers that have him among the league leaders over at Behind The Net.
The Oilers, who haven't had much going for them with him in the lineup, are now looking at their options for selling at the trade deadline three weeks from now. A loss against Dallas on Friday means they would need to go 21-7 to close the season with 93 points and have any hope of a playoff berth.
The chances the Ducks will have a lottery pick just got better.
