The Chicago Blackhawks announced today the team has named Bill Peters Head Coach of the Rockford IceHogs, Chicago’s American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate.
Peters joins the IceHogs after serving the past three years as Head Coach of the Spokane Chiefs of the Western Hockey League, where he led the Chiefs to the 2008 Memorial Cup Championship. Another successful junior bench boss joins Craig Hartsburg and Peter DeBoer in the professional ranks.
Peters is a very good hire by the 'Hawks. He's climbed the WHL ranks very quickly, coaching only the past three seasons in Spokane as a head coach, and was in the Canadian university hockey system as recently as the lockout.
