Brodeur injures arm against Atlanta

New Jersey Devils goaltender Martin Brodeur left Saturday's game against Atlanta with a bruised left elbow. Brodeur skated off the ice in the second period. He first appeared to hurt his elbow reaching for a shot and was involved in a goal-mouth scramble moments later.

Any type of long-term absence by Brodeur would obviously change the landscape in the Eastern Conference, but watching the play in the game tonight against Atlanta, it's hard to imagine that he's suffered a major injury.

Despite leaving the game, Brodeur will pick up his 544th career win from this one and move to within seven victories of tying Patrick Roy as the all-time leader.

The Thrashers are being blown out for the second time this week, down 6-0 in the second period. Atlanta lost to 7-0 to Philadelphia on Tuesday and were heavily booed by the 13,200 in attendance for that laugher.
