Ribeiro's ridiculous shootout goal
The Kings ended up winning the shootout, so their protest was muted after the game, but after Mike Ribeiro scored this goal last night, there was a bit of a delay as the Los Angeles bench went crazy.
As it stands now, however, this is a legal goal. The real question? How on earth does a goaltender stop it?
Another grand performance in the circus.

I thought he stopped
The move in general seems fine but I think he stopped. It’s one of those things that you love it if he’s on your team but hate it if he isn’t.

He didn't stop
Watch it in slow mo. He never stopped moving forward, and more importantly, neither did the puck. He can stop all he wants, the puck has to keep moving forward, which it does. It moves mostly laterally for a while, but he had enough forward momentum that everything’s still moving forward.
Sick move and that goal should stand.

I can't believe some people think that is illegal
This is a perfectly legal move and I don’t see anything that gives the shooter an unfair advantage.
The spinorama move by Bouchard (and somebody else) where they push the goalie should be outlawed years before this is even reviewed.

It wasn't just the goal
It wasn’t just the goal that made the Kings bench go crazy. It was Riberio’s cheeky gesture after he skated back to his bench.

And i loved that too
I hate Dallas overall, but i think things like shushing the bench and the crowd are good for hockey. It’s always seemed a disconnect to me that the game is as hard hitting as it is and has guys on the team labeled “enforcers” but players are shunned and spoken ill of when they showboat a little (see comments last year for Tootoo and others raising their hands to the crowd after fights).
Bring it on. It’s entertainment.

Completely legal
A beautiful move.
It was the douchebaggery after the fact that got the Kings riled up, as Connie states.
Ribeiro could use a beat down one of these days.
But it was a pretty sweet goal.

Par for the course
The shootout is an exhibition gimmick anyways, why not have crazy moves like this? If anything it might do well to give a slightly higher profile to the insane skill some of the top players have.
I would agree that the Kings were probably more fired up by the post-game gesture than to the goal itself.

Sweet Goal!
And the after goal bit was just as priceless. Now would I say that if I was a Kings fan…? Probably not, but funny and hey, you score a goal like that, go ahead do what you want, this is no NFL…

In defense of Ribeiro
at the end of the third period, he was clobbered with a hit to the head by Dustin Brown. It opened up a huge gash on his forehead and he missed the entire overtime period getting it stitched up. that hit is why Morrow got a misconduct and the news today is he will not be suspended or fined because of mitigating circumstances (Brown got a game misconduct as well).
Ribeiro returned just in time for the shootout and scored a goal to keep the Stars alive… so there was more to it than just scoring a nice goal.

The Kings are overly sensitive if that shush gesture and mild mouthing off is what got them riled up.
You are gonna play the Stars again soon enough… Get him with heavy legal hits in the next game, don’t go whining like little bitches
