Pietrangelo returned to junior
St. Louis Blues President John Davidson announced today the club has assigned defenseman Alex Pietrangelo to his junior team, the Niagara Ice Dogs of the Ontario Hockey League.
Pietrangelo, 18, a native of King City, Ontario, has skated in eight games for the Blues this season, recording one assist along with two penalty minutes. He was the Blues’ first round pick, fourth overall, in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.

Pietrangelo is, incredibly, the first of the high profile 2008 draftees to be returned to junior. It's a great move by the Blues, who are still rebuilding and who will give Pietrangelo some time to develop into a star.
He ended up getting into eight games and recording one assist in 16:31 per game in icetime.
As an aside, check out the stats packaging SBN has added for our NHL sites, the first of many hockey-related upgrades on the way in. Pretty nifty.

The kid’s demotion back to jrs. gives broadcasters a chance to practice calling him “Peter-ann-jeh-loh” instead of “Peh-tranj-eh-low.”
It was driving me nuts. Had to turn off the sound the last game.
