A new addition to the all-star ballot

I took a look at the latest results of the all-star voting, and it seems there's a new addition on the ballot, right there at the bottom:

All-stars_medium

I know that's small, but it reads: "This question is for testing whether you are a human visitor and to prevent automated spam submissions."

Damn alien visitors.

So much for the auto-votes? Somehow, however, I doubt that ends the Habs fans' dedication to the cause.

Not sure why they didn’t add that in the first place. Unless they were hoping for some sort of ballot stuffing controversy.

About time

Well its about time… do you think they are going to go back on all those bunk votes? My guess is that they didn’t have a system implemented to determine any kind of cheating etc, so I imagine they CAN’T go back…

I’m sure the automated voting is pretty easy to trace. From my understanding, people will just run a script which submits the same info without going through the fancy flash interface or whatever they have to vote. So all you have to do is look at tons of votes submitted at a ridiculously fast pace from the same IP address, and there you go.

I remember some political blogs would get bombarded with fake votes, and they could find which votes were automated by this system. I’m sure the NHL could do it if they wanted to.
