Blues claim Crombeen on waivers
St. Louis Blues President John Davidson announced today the team has claimed forward B.J. Crombeen on waivers from the Dallas Stars.
Crombeen, 23, has appeared in 15 games with Dallas this season, posting five points (one goal, four assists) along with 26 penalty minutes. The 6-2, 212-pound right winger has skated in 23 career NHL games, recording seven points (one goal, six assists) and 65 penalty minutes.
The Denver, Colorado native was originally Dallas’ second round selection, 54th overall in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.
Crombeen’s father, Mike Crombeen, played five seasons with the Blues from 1978-83. Mike Crombeen scored one of the biggest goals in Blues history when he netted a series clinching double overtime goal against Pittsburgh in the first round of the 1981 playoffs.
B.J. and Mike would be the third father and son combination to play for the Blues. Bob and Brent Johnson were the first and Peter and Yan Stastny were the second.

I can still hear the call of the late Dan Kelly on that goal...
people always talk about the “Monday night Miracle” when you review the all too short list of Blues’ postseason highlights, but to me, this is the one, not just because it ended a long exciting game against a hot goalie (Greg Millen), but because it resulted in the Blues actually WINNING A SERIES, which hasn’t happened too often in 40 some-odd years.
Nice to see his boy about to wear the Bluenote!

Fair point
I’ve actually thought about that before (Monday Night Miracle vs. Crombeen’s OT winner) … I always figured part of the difference in the mythology was that 1981 was ultimately such a disappointment for a team that had done so well in the regular season, whereas 1986 was a year where that group seemed to have no business getting as far as it did, so every playoff success was gravy. Also maybe due to the MNM being a steadily building, crazy comeback, whereas Crombeen’s was a sudden, single moment.
Would be cool if Crombeen the Younger took #26…
