Blues recall Regier

St. Louis Blues President John Davidson announced today the club has recalled forward Steve Regier from the Blues’ American Hockey League affiliate, the Peoria Rivermen.

Regier, 24, made his Blues debut on Nov. 16 vs. Montreal, recording two goals, his first in the National Hockey League. The 6-5, 200-pound forward has skated in 15 games for the Rivermen this season, collecting 17 points (nine goals, eight assists) along with 12 penalty minutes.

The Spruce Grove, Alberta native was originally drafted by the New York Islanders in the fifth round, 148th overall, in the 2004 Entry Draft.

Regier was sent down for a few days to save a few bucks as the Blues had a break in their schedule. He currently leads the NHL in goals per game.

Nonsense! I’m sure the days spent in Peoria were essential to the 24-year-old’s development. :)

SBN now has a NY Islanders blog at LighthouseHockey.com.
