Sabres call up Gerbe
Buffalo Sabres GM Darcy Regier announced today the Sabres have recalled C Nathan Gerbe from Portland (AHL). In addition, the Sabres have returned RW Mark Mancari to Portland.
In just his first professional season, Gerbe (7/24/1987, 5'6", 160 lbs.) is currently second on the Pirates in scoring with 24 points (14+10) in 21 games. Included in his goal totals are 7 PP tallies and a pair of game winners. Gerbe also has 25 PIMs and has taken a team-high 91 shots.
>> team release
Gerbe, likely a future fan favourite because of his size and style of play, finally gets into his first NHL game this season after lighting up the AHL. It'll be interesting to see if his scoring totals can translate from the NCAA, where he was a star with Boston College, to the NHL.

Hopefully he provides a spark.
They need it. Can’t wait to see what he’s got.

It's pretty exciting
I’m not necessarily expecting too much from him tonight but I think the kid has a real future.

Yeah, if anything I can see an assist. I think the future is bright though.

I hate BC forwards. When you watch them closely, they play a really cheap game. Jerry York is particularly fond of teaching them to discreetly cross-check opposing defensemen going back to play a dump in, hoping to entice a retaliatory penalty.
Then again, I just don’t like BC, so I may be biased.

Makes this game worth watching
I’ve been rather depressed about the Sabres lately (2-8 in their last ten games), so this gives some excitment to the game tonight.
After seeing his AHL numbers and watching him in the NCAA last year, I have real high expectations for him…

Mixed results
15:09 TOI, 4 shots, one penalty. He seemed a bit lost out there to me, but not too bad. I’ve seen rookies play worse.

I thought he looked good
He wasn’t aftaid to shoot. Was on the ice for two goals for and none against. Plus the penalty was a bad call and not his fault.

I love how many "midget" players America produces
The kids that are too small for football play hockey, at least in areas where hockey is played in America.
He’s going to get obvious comparisons with Brian Gionta, with his size as well as going to Boston College
Maybe in order to understand mankind, we have to look at the word itself: "Mankind". Basically, it's made up of two separate words—"mank" and "ind". What do these words mean? It's a mystery, and that's why so is mankind.
