Sabres' statement on sale of team

Statement from Buffalo Sabres Managing Partner Larry Quinn on the Sabres being for sale:

“We are not in negotiations to sell the team and as we have stated in the past, we will never entertain discussions to move the team out of Buffalo, NY.”

This comes in response to this report today, which suggested the team was up for grabs.

1) This rumor has been floating around in various publications for more than a year. Seems that where there is smoke there is fire, but the team always denies ANY intent to sell.
2) Wouldn’t be a good thing as the team seemed so solid with Billionaire, and perennial gubernatorial candidate Golisano owning the team

Buffalo is not going to be sold

These roumours have been going on for about a year now. But it is not going to happen. Especially not with Balsillie. For anyone to report otherwise is clearly irresponsible. Anyone who has paid attention knows better.

My thoughts exactly

I had to chuckle when I heard this because Golisano publicly stated last year that he wasn’t in this for the long haul and he will sell the team at some point. This is really a non-story.
