Sanford demoted
"Vancouver Canucks General Manager Mike Gillis announced today that goaltender Curtis Sanford has been re-assigned to the Manitoba Moose of the AHL."
Sanford cleared waivers at noon today when 29 other teams passed on him. The Islanders signed former backup Wade Dubielewicz rather than claim Sanford.

wow
I don’t get it. Sanford’s gotta be up in the top 30 goalies in the league.

Weird. I always thought Sanford was a quality goaltender, and looked like a platoon-quality guy in St. Louis a couple years back.

Maybe teams watched tapes of Sanford’s play this year and realized that his lack of size is preventing him from being effective. In addition, his recovery is quite poor after making an initial save.
