"I fight because it's my job, not because I like it. How many fighters like fighting anyway? I've talked to many tough guys and I can't even name you one. We do it because it's our job; that's it."

A very thoughtful article by Big Georges.

At least Georges has some skill in cycling and protecting the puck as a 4th line grinder. Plenty of those guys wouldn’t be in the league at all if they didn’t have the willingness to get into fights nearly every game. So why are they there? I think the claim that they protect the stars is pretty dubious.

Laraque is a fraud

Yet another free agent that used Montreal as a bargaining chip. For $1.5 million Gainey has a guy that is constantly injured, doesn’t like to fight and watches his teammates get beaten up. Great deal. Had a chance to go after Kurt Sauer after Andrei Kostitsyn was injured. Wouldn’t do it. Big Georges let Tom Kostopolous take the pounding instead, before deciding to pound on Fedoruk for no good reason. Wouldn’t fight Lucic after Komisarek was injured. Real team guy this Georges is. At least the Habs are forcing this fraud to give up his column. Worst free agent signing by Gainey since Samsonov. Essentially, an out of shape fighter that has his own code who won’t do the job he was signed for in the first place. Gainey should send him to Cincinnati where he can be off the books and toil in well deserved obscurity.

To be fair, that sack of crap Kostopoulous deserves every beating he catches.

We learned this in Edmonton years ago. Great personality, theoretical nuclear deterrent, practical albatross.

Woohoo!

$1.5m a year gets you a blogger with a bad groin.
