How can you fix the all-star game?
The Sporting News' Craig Custance enlists some help (including from yours truly) in trying to make the NHL's annual shinny game more of a draw.
An annual question, it seems.

home-ice advantage?
I found it interesting that Jay Feaster mentioned giving the winning conference in the All-Star Game the home-ice advantage in the final as a way to “fix” the game. That’s what they do in baseball, and I don’t think too many people like the idea of an exhibition game potentially affecting the World Series.
Although it might work better in hockey, where more teams make the playoffs and theoretically more players on the ASG roster could play in the final.
As a casual hockey fan, I’d tune in for a skills competition, but not a three-hour exhibition game, no matter who’s playing. The no-helmets thing is also interesting, because it would be something different (well, for us young people anyway), and it could work as long as the hits and high shots are kept down.
