All Thirty Teams in Action
Over the first two nights of the season we've seen Sakic's number raised to the rafters along with the Pens' Cup banner. We saw Ray Emery begin his comeback with a shutout, Ovechkin pick up where he left off last year, Gorges in OT, Koistinen scoring the shootout winner in Finland, the return of Paul Kariya, the Flames going retro and hanging on for a win, Crosby and Malkin getting on the board early and the Avs with Craig Anderson spoiling Heatley's debut (-3).
It's days like this when the NHL Center Ice package can be hazardous to a relationship. I'm putting this up as an open thread to comment on all the action while you're watching 13 hours of hockey or so.
Enjoy the games!

Let it begin
There is a goaltender controversy in Chicago with Niemi’s performance today. Looked comfortable and had excellent rebound control and it was extra special for him to record his first NHL ShutOut in his own backyard – the Hartwall arena in Helsinki, Finland. Great job by the Hawks for getting the win an getting 3 out of 4 points on this European Vacation now on to the scene of the crime….the Joe and I can’t wait.
Question though: Who gets the nod on Thursday? It will be interesting to see who Q starts.
It's never about the eventual destination, but rather the long journey and its challenging obstacles that are presented and what it takes to overcome them, that makes the taste of success all the more worthwhile!!!

Based on Theodore's performance in Boston...
…and Huet’s in the first game in Finland can’t say as if I blame you. Jose looked very good the other night as well as some other guy named Ovechkin…you might of heard of him? What a release! The GR8 is absolute freight-train!

And on YouTube
As a Flames fan, I have to say that was an awesome way to win the game, especially after the freak lucky bounce the Oilers got on the tying goal.
