Roloson's incredible saves

He was the early star when he dived back into the net after the puck took a wild bounce off the boards behind him and came out in front. Roloson lunged to block Steve Downie's attempt at a wide-open net and then used his left skate to deny Todd Fedoruk's try on the rebound.

The puck remained on the line as the Lightning celebrated what they thought was a goal. But play continued, and a lengthy video replay confirmed that the puck didn't cross the line.

Unreal

I hate how often a great save gets nominated before the calendar even flips to Xmas, but clearly this will be the award-winning save of the year of the year next June.

But nevermind six months from now, the only question on the table is do ya give it the save of the decade award, next week?

Anyway, given that the ruling makes this play eligible for both awards, did the puck ever go in? The director uses that spot light effect thingie to highlight the puck while it’s at rest, but maybe the puck crossed the plane before that, on the original kick save (1:28).

It doesn’t even matter. Who’ would even take anything away from that effort? I’ve never seen a better two-save combination. There may be 91+ years left to play, but it has the potential to win save of the century ;-)

That was some nice recovery by Roloson though. Definitely the save(s) of the year so far this season. As far as whether the puck went in, if they called that second shot a goal last night, I would have been at Bettman’s office demanding the Flames get their rightful Stanley Cup back. ;)

Boy, good thing we didn’t sign that guy for the extra year. Then we’d really be screwed for goaltending.
