Shanahan takes on Boulton
Brendan Shanahan may be 40 years old and easing into his 22nd season, but that didn't stop him from fighting a heavyweight last night in Atlanta:
"We hit each other with a couple," he told The Record's Tom Gulitti. "But it felt good-- more the part of hitting him that him hitting me. That felt better. But just being in it. It's been a while. It's not something you get to do when you don't play in the NHL and stay out of jail. Usually, that's frowned upon in society. But it's fun to go against a tough guy just to challenge yourself."
Crazy bugger.

Well he certainly doesn’t stand there and just throw wildly but you gotta give the guy credit for being willing to go with one of the tougher guys in the league who also happens to be 8 years younger. Glad Shanny is back.

What did you expect?
Shanny’s a Mimico lad. We don’t back down from anyone

Shanny didn’t go often but was willing to go with heavies and always stuck up for his teammates. His only fight of 06-07 was against Brashear.

What a guy
Shanny’s such a great player. Never backs down. I loved him on the Wings.

No disrespect meant to you for pointing it out, James.

Glad Shanahan made it back to the League. He’s still one of my favorite players.
