Could the NHL Awards have attendance issues?

Given the ticket prices, the turnout for this year's awards ceremony should be interesting.
Tickets for the NHL's first-ever summer shindig in Las Vegas go on sale at 3 p.m., less than three hours from now, and are priced at $504 (U.S.) each. The Pearl Concert Theater at Palms Casino Resort seats 2,500 at the high end, so maybe that's not a lot of tickets to move, but honestly, with the bad speeches and hokey presentation, what sort of demand can there be to see something like this?
If you're a hockey fan in Vegas, sign up as a seat filler. They'll probably need you.
UPDATE Here's what the ticket provides for, as per NHL.com:
"Tickets to the 2009 NHL Awards will grant fans unprecedented access, including a seat along side the NHL's best players, celebrities and other NHL VIPs in the amazing Pearl Concert Theater plus admittance to the NHL's official after-party held at Rain night club. Also, to be announced at a later date, the NHL will identify the musical entertainment and hosts for this year's event."
If anyone is planning on attending the event, let me know as I'd be interested in getting your take on how they've spiced up the awards ceremony.

Of course if they intend to change the show from previous years and have some high-end talent to go along with the “bad speeches and hokey presentation” then peraps they’ll entice more folks to fork over big bucks

None of the musical guests, etc., have been confirmed yet, so you’re buying a ticket blind right now. The tickets also give you access to some sort of after party, so that’s obviously worth something.

I'd pay that much
If an audience member could heckle Ron MacLean.

If you’re taking up a collection, then count me in on that. I’ll contribute toward the cause. :)

No kidding. I have it on good authority that none of the Toronto Maple Leafs are planning to attend.

If I had this kind of spare change and the way to get to Vegas without mortgaging my house, I’d like to attend the after party – if it’s anything like the ASG parties this year in Montreal, it’ll be very fun.

Any way to let us know what it used to cost to attend in Toronto? Did that also include access to some after party?
Regardless, the price seems awfully steep.

I don’t know that you could get tickets. I went as a seat filler and it was mostly seat fillers and hockey players.

Yeah I don’t believe tickets were available to the public. This is a new thing they’re doing.

Maybe give free tickets to a couple of fans to PROOFREAD their materials – leaflets, programs, hockey jerseys, etc. – just to make sure the names are spelled correctly? Not that they would need anything like that …
