NHL players at the world championship

The 2009 world hockey championship kicked off today in Switzerland. You can catch some of the games in the afternoons on TSN, and the tourney's well worth checking out.
Here are the NHL (and AHL) players playing:
Austria: Thomas Vanek
Belarus: Ruslan Salei, Mikhail Grabovski
Canada: Dan Hamhuis, Drew Doughty, Chris Phillips, Luke Schenn, Shea Weber, Ian White, Scottie Upshall, Derek Roy, Shawn Horcoff, Mike Fisher, Dany Heatley, Steve Stamkos, Matt Lombardi, Shane Doan, Colby Armstrong, Marty St. Louis, James Neal, Dwayne Roloson, Josh Harding, Jason Spezza
Czech Republic: Marek Zidlicky, Roman Polak, Ales Kotalik, Ales Hemsky, Rostislav Olesz
Denmark: Mikkel Boedker, Sebastian Dahm, Peter Regin
Finland: Ville Koistinen, Niklas Hagman, Antti Miettinen, Anssi Salmela, Karri Ramo, Pekka Rinne, Jarkko Ruutu
France: None
Germany: Christoph Schubert, Jochen Hecht
Hungary: None
Latvia: Janis Sprukts, Karlis Skrastins, Martins Karsums
Norway: None
Russia: Anton Volchenkov, Dmitri Kalinin, Alex Frolov, Ilya Bryzgalov, Denis Grebeshkov, Ilya Kovalchuk
Switzerland: Mark Streit, Martin Gerber
Slovakia: Michal Handzus, Peter Olvecky, Andrej Sekera, Boris Valabik
Sweden: Niklas Grossman, Joel Lundqvist, Loui Eriksson, Tobias Enstrom
United States: Keith Ballard, Jack Johnson, Zach Bogosian, Matt Niskanen, Ron Hainsey, Kyle Okposo, Patrick O'Sullivan, J-M Liles, Nick Foligno, Ryan Suter, Drew Stafford, Lee Stempniak, Dustin Brown, Ryan Shannon, Al Montoya, Colin Stuart, Jason Blake
As you can see, some of the European countries have gone very, very light on NHL talent. Russia has only six and Sweden has just four.
These are the rosters as of the tournament's first day and will change as more players are knocked out of the playoffs and become available. Tomas Plekanec from the Habs, for one, is expected to join the Czech team shortly.

Don’t forget Colin Wilson (hey, he’s signed now) for the US. It really sucks that this isn’t on TV down here. The IIHF has a streaming video pay-per-view, but it specifically blocks out US customers.
More fun than a stick to the face!
On the Forecheck is SB Nation's blog covering the Nashville Predators.

Why does it block us out? What channel has the rights to this?
p.s. salei to grabovski was the only goal scored by belarus. Coincidence? I think not.

Poor Sweden
Their national team basically plays for Detroit and Vancouver.

Four more...
You missed 4 Blues players that were added to the team earlier this week…
Patrick Berglund (SWE)
TJ Oshie (USA)
David Backes (USA)
Chris Mason (CAN)
Polak is going too, but you had that one.

NBC’s Universal Sports has rights to the World Championships. You can find it on some of the extra digital channels on some of the NBC Owned and operated affiliates.

They’re usually pretty good about broadcasting online, too. Track down their website if you’re looking to watch some games.
