Only two players (Shaone Morrisonn and Ville Koistinen) actually went through the arbitration process last summer, but it appears we may have a few more this time around. Those potentially receiving decent sized awards are the likes of Zajac, Ruutu, Hudler and Zherdev, who all had a fair number of points last season, while many of the others should be under $2-million.
It's tough to forecast where players like MacArthur, Grebeshkov, Harding and Plekanec will slot in.
- Both Copper & Blue and Japers' Rink have done excellent mock arbitration hearings for their players in the past few days. There's some terrific stuff in there, including likely comparables.

Grebeshkov
Consensus among Oilers’ bloggers seems to be that he’ll get more than $3 million. I think we’d all be ecstatic if it was only $2 million.

It very well could be. He’s a tough guy to find an accurate comparison for.

I’m guessing Dawes won’t make it to arbitration. Sutter will ink him before the 22nd.

Milan Jurcina
Jurcina’s a physical guy with a lot of good tools including a slapshot that cracked two panes of glass at the practice facility last season, but the Caps have a couple of blueliners on the farm who are ready to come up and they’re close to the cap. Consensus on Japers’ seems to be that he’ll get somewhere around $1.5 million, but if the award is too much more than that, I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Caps let him walk.

If he did become a UFA, I’m sure he would attract plenty of attention on the market, and be signed pretty fast.

No doubt. He’s certainly not a bad defenseman at all for a $1.5 million price tag. Whether the Caps let him go or not really all depends on how much he gets awarded.

MacArthur
Shouldn’t be topping $1.25 million per year. No chance in hell.

Plekanec
I think most Habs fans have him slotted between $2.5m and $3m (1 year deal). Higgins got $2.25m from the Rangers, and it’s generally believed that Plexo would get a little more than him by virtue of staying healthy and posting consecutive 20 goal seasons.
