2009-10 McKeen's Hockey Yearbook

You can tell it's almost hockey season when the yearbooks start showing up in the mail.
I've been a big part of the McKeen's Hockey team in terms of putting together their annual for years now, and while it's always a lot of blood, sweat and tears in July and August, the result is worth it. While many of the other magazines have large media companies backing them, McKeen's is coming to you straight from the publisher Iain Morrell's basement in Mississauga, and he works tirelessly to compete with some of the big boys. The depth of the information in this thing is always amazing, even to someone working on some of the writing.
In my (biased) opinion, this is the best annual out there every year for a hardcore fan of the NHL. If you're interested, you can order them online here or pick them up at the stores listed for quite a bit less. We certainly appreciate the support.
I hope to have some excerpts from the magazine as part of season previews throughout September, so stay tuned for that. (By the way, McKeen's picks Alex Ovechkin as the league's leading scorer this coming season.)
Also of note for Maple Leafs fans, I was part of another annual this year in contributing a feature article about Brian Burke's rebuilding plan to Maple Street Press' inaugural Maple Leafs Annual. Down Goes Brown has the details on that one.

This is my favorite yearbook. I have been waiting for weeks for it to come out, ever since I saw THN on the stands. My rotisserie pool recently switched to this magazine to set positions since everyone was buying it. We were tired of wasting our money on other yearbooks for no other reason than to identify positions. Any idea when it will hit the newstands?

Soon. I’d be surprised if you can’t buy it most places within the next week.

I didn’t know it was such a small operation. I plan on purchasing it this weekend even though I don’t expect to read anything too positive about the Avs.

For the record, this is the only magazine that I buy every year, and I’ve been checking this site faithfully to see when it will be released.
I’m not a regular poster (I believe this is my first post), but I am definitely a religious reader of this site. Keep up the great work.
And James, I hope you’re running your pool again. Make sure to send me an invite:)

The thing I like about McKeens is their depth on each team’s prospects. If a guy gets called up during the season, they usually have something to say about him in their preview.

It also makes for the best quality toilet paper of its peers! j/k
I’ll be picking this up, but I have the sneaky feeling that James puts this out and keeps his best stuff for himself. That’s how he wins all those hockey pools.
Hockey blogging can't get any flatter.

That’s some damn expensive TP, Bruce.
The second part’s totally not true… but what does happen is that my fantasy picks from mid-August aren’t quite as good as the ones I’ll make in late September.

Hands down the best hockey annual out there. I’m certain you’ve had 24 sales out of our pool since the first year it was published.
