A fantasy hockey preview
It's been busy behind the scenes for me, and one of the things I've been working on is a fantasy hockey preview for The Globe to help promote the paper's annual online pool. Part 1 on picking forwards is here, with some words on defencemen and goaltenders going up Wednesday and Thursday. Eric Duhatschek puts out his master fantasy list on Friday.
I've started up a group over at the fantasy pool for those who want to play along:
Group name: Mirtle Hockey
Password: blog
As for the chart above, well it's just a quick look at how forwards who play more minutes per game on the power play ultimately score more points. That relationship is a no-brainer, really, given the top offensive players are going to get the most minutes, but the graph gives you an idea of how important first-unit PP time is in terms of fantasy production.
See you in the pool.

I’m glad you are posting some of this, because I have a live draft tomorrow night and I am NOT prepared in the least.
