SBN Gameday: ESPN Hearts FTR

(Note: Power outage in my area today from a plane crash, so my updates will be very sporadic until the city gets everything sorted out.)

Today's soundtrack: The old ESPN National Hockey Night theme song. Why the sudden outburst of love for ESPN? From The Rink will be featured on ESPN2's SportsNation today at 4 PM EST. Set your DVRs.

Finland vs. Belarus, 3 PM EST (MSNBC, TSN)
Team Belarus is probably best known for the Tommy Salo incident that earned them an underdog following in Salt Lake City, though now they feature the famous Kostitsyn brothers from the Canadiens. For Finland, it starts with Miikka Kiprusoff in net, though it'll be local hero Teemu Selanne's last run at gold -- Selanne, who was questionable after breaking his jaw in January, should be skating with Anaheim teammate Saku Koivu.

Sweden vs. Germany, 7:30 PM EST (CNBC, TSN)
Of the "outside chance" teams, Team Germany has the best shot to make a dent with a handful of quality NHLers. Germany usually plays a tight one-four defense defense, so even the talented Swedes might be slowed down as they begin their Torino gold defense. Don't forget it's the return of Peter Forsberg to North American ice.

Czech Republic vs. Slovakia, 11:55 PM EST (CNBC, Sportsnet)
Tonight's best game is also on at a ridiculous time for East Coasters, but hey, Olympic hockey is a rarity, right? For Slovakia, they'll be without sniper Marian Gaborik. The Czech team will bring Jaromir Jagr back to North American ice.

Belarus

Belarus only has one Kostitsyn on the final roster. Andrei Kositsyn and Grabovski were left off the roster.

I stand corrected. I must have looked at an outdated roster.

Gotta love that half of Belaurs’ NHLers (and their two best players, though Sergei could be better by ’14) got injured prior to the Olympics.

Hockey blogging can't get any flatter.

Good luck on ESPN, ask them when there will by an ESPNbayarea.com.

Having a site in Los Angeles is all well and good, but Northern California and Southern California are like oil and water. The birthplace of “with authority” and Skip Bayless deserves its own ESPN domain. Alright, forget that Bayless plug. That may actually work against us.

I wonder if my great dane puppy can fit on a skateboard, maybe one of those long board models… 6 months old and 120 pounds.
