Every weekday, FTR will look at the day's games with a preview blurbs from around the SBN hockey network.

Tonight's soundtrack: Love Will Tear Us Apart by Joy Division -- "love", in Ilya Kovalchuk's eyes, obviously means more than $10 million a year.

Game of the Night
Toronto at New Jersey, 7 PM EST
Just in case you haven't heard, Ilya Kovalchuk debuts for New Jersey tonight against Toronto. You know, Toronto -- the team that made the OTHER big recent trade(s). One of those involved is still getting used to his new pads.

Atlanta at Washington, 7 PM EST
Atlanta is still reeling from the Kovalchuk trade, but they've gotta prepare for a game against the hottest team in the league tonight.

Calgary at Florida, 7:30 PM EST
Calgary hopes to build off a strong effort against Carolina -- oh, and they're bringing some guy named Bouw-something-something. Panthers fans may care about that guy, but not so much about the departed Olli Jokinen.

Carolina at Buffalo, 7:30 PM EST
Canes Country has the latest on the Niclas Wallin-to-San Jose situation. The Sabres are looking to take their frustrations out on the Canes, with or without Nic Wallin.

Phoenix at Chicago, 8:30 PM EST
Chicago is recovering from a sloppy game against St. Louis with the Phoenix Coyotes in town. The Yotes are no slouches, and the market is starting to take notice with increased TV ratings.

Joy Division, nice

I can hear Waddell crooning now:
“Why is the locker room so cold? You’ve turned away on your side
Is my managing that flawed — our respect run so dry?
Yet there’s still this appeal…”

Lighthouse Hockey: Under contract through 2021, knees and hips be damned.

Heh. Good adaptation, Dominik. One last part:

“Do fans cry out in their sleep? All my failings exposed.”

Ha! I can’t believe I didn’t carry it that far. That’s perfect.

Nice song choice. And ever since 2001, that song always reminds me of Donnie Darko.

"My face is my mask."

Very underrated movie.

Please allow me to adjust my pants, so that I may dance the good time dance, and lead the onlookers and innocent bystanders into a trance.
