Ebay's strangest NHL stuff
Last week, we took a break from the summer doldrums by watching a video of ten cars playing hockey. Well, we can't all pull together ten cars and a giant frozen plain to smash cars over, so let's veer off in a different direction this week. Here are ten of the coolest, ugliest, or just plain strangest NHL-related items on Ebay. No, there's no "Personal services" from user A-Yashin79 on there, and beware the $1 billion bid from BelfourEagle.
Colorado Avalanche ugly t-shirt: I don't remember Peter Forsberg's line with Valeri Kamensky and Claude Lemieux being dubbed the Pipeline, but I guess the P-V-C pun makes sense. Still, nothing excuses this ugly charicature-laden t-shirt. While Claude Lemieux looks like himself (no word if this grin was wiped off his face when he turtled on Darren McCarty), but Peter Forsberg looks more like John Ritter's younger brother. Dig the pipes used as hockey sticks.
Spider-Man Florida Panthers jersey: What's worse than the combination of Nike and hockey? How about if Spider-Man became a Florida Panthers fan and took corporate sponsorship? Then you'd get this jersey, truly a remarkable nominee for the All-Ugly Hall of Fame. Seriously, this jersey would probably break Icethetics if it got posted there.
(Update: Click the jump after the poll. I just realized that it's not obvious with the number of poll choices.)
Very, very, very old NHL rulebook: Ok, so this falls more under the "cool" category -- an NHL yearbook from that comes from before World War II. The seller has a few other official books from that era, though no word if the Chris Chelios autograph comes with a certificate of authenticity.NHL awards dinner brochure: Ok, I'm not even sure what to make of this one. It's a 24-page brochure for the NHL awards dinner. There's no description for what it's in those 24 pages, but if it's like most event programs, it's probably got a summary of award nominees, a timeline for the evening, and the dinner menu.
Autographed Dan McCourt 8x10: Quick, who's your favorite referee? What? You don't have one? Well, then how the heck will we know which autographed 8x10 to get you for your birthday? I didn't even know that sold 8x10s of refs, but I guess Dan McCourt gets his time in the sun. Bonus points for the fact that this one is personalized and says "Your friend" on it. Did you ever want to be friends with Dan McCourt? Now you can!
Sidney Crosby/Jaromir Jagr bitch session 8x10: We've seen all sorts of cool 8x10 photos with shots, skating strides, face-offs, even the good ol' fight one. This one? It features Jaromir Jagr showing off his cool soul patch while he yells at Sidney Crosby. There's no accompanying audio, but I'm guessing the linesman's dialog went something like this: "Seriously, guys. You're Jagr and Crosby. Don't even try."
Awesome 70s iron-on: Remember iron-ons? Remember bad 70s porn-star mustaches? Why not bring those two together with this unique iron-on patch that will tell everyone what sport you love. Besides, if you bought a ringer t-shirt and ironed this on, you could walk through any hipster neighborhood and totally fit in.
Old-school NHL lunchbox with thermos: Man, this is way cooler than the old Fox & The Hound lunchbox I had growing up. The brand is "Okay Lunchboxes" which, if you think about it, is a very poor choice of words to call your business. The lunchbox features all NHL team logos but the thermos is Boston Bruins. The fake players are in Bruins gold and black too, though the mutton chops on the dude could be from a bunch of different 70s players.
Hockey-playing Muppet Animal: Finally, this doll. I have no words for this other than it's probably the best use of an NHL license that I've ever seen.

I have no idea why the Spider-Man Panthers sweater isn’t winning. It is FAR more badass than everything else on the list.

Come on, Mike, be honest!
You just wrote this article to hype these auctions while you’re cleaning out your closets…
